SECOND SATURDAY

North County embraces art in a big way. Not only do residents support galleries, studios and museums, the Escondido Arts Partnership has organized a special event to promote art appreciation and sales called “Second Saturday”.The monthly event is a free, self guided "art walk" through the Escondido cultural district. 2nd Saturday is funded in part by the City of Escondido and the County of San Diego.

Extending their usual hours into the evening, the galleries and eateries invite the public to promote the arts and Southern California artists. The public is invited to tour through artists' studios and galleries and meet the artists on ---- you guessed it ---- the second Saturday of every month.

The elegant and relaxed island resort setting has made Paradise Grille the hottest new restaurant and bar in Del Mar. Executive chef, Justin Hoehn's inspired California cuisine, with an island flair, takes advantage of the freshest seasonal ingredients. Diners can enjoy watching the chef and his team, create these delicacies in an open exhibition kitchen with a wood burning oven. Guests can enjoy signature cocktails and more at the hip and cool indoor/outdoor bar and lounge with live entertainment and a glowing beach glass fire pit.

Owner, Conor Adaire, points out he was fortunate to have the advice of his former employer, chef Bertrand Hug. Conor was maitre d’ at both Mille Fleurs and Bertrand’s at Mr. A’s for nearly six years. Beautifully designed by David Robinson, who also created the interiors for Roppongi, the Poseidon, Mille Fleurs and Bertrand’s at Mr. A’s, the restaurant has three distinctive areas.
The upper level has hardwood floors and light neutral colors with hearthside tables, booths, a small outdoor patio and an adjacent room which can be closed for privacy. Bustling with its line of cooks, the open kitchen features a wood-burning brick oven and granite counters. Downstairs, the lounge area is more intimate, dimly lit with dark woods, but with ample seating for diners. The full bar is stocked with premium liquors and there are ceiling-mounted plasma TVs. Expanding out into the mall’s courtyard setting, the bar opens onto a larger outdoor patio which has both a fire pit and water fountain. Open until midnight, seven days a week, the Grille’s patio bar is bound to become a destination on warm summer nights to come.
